How Pokémon Go is set to change your business

How Pokémon Go is set to change your business

If you’ve been living without connection to civilisation in the last week, you’ve missed a major digital movement changing our world.

Pokémon Go has wooed the world.

Well Australia, New Zealand and the USA at least.

Pokémon GO: The biggest mobile game in U.S. history

Rocketing to the top of the app store the day it was released, within 24 hours Pokémon GO became the biggest game of 2016, as measured by daily active users. Check out the mind-blowing stats from Fieldboom here.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking these digital trends don’t effect you and your business. Because heads up! They do. And guess what? Your competitors are taking advantage right now.

Pokémon Go is, has and will continue to explode

What is it?

The app has placed a spin on traditional Pokémon by forcing users to leave the comfort of their own homes to hunt Pokémon in real life. Pokémon Go uses your phones GPS and camera to turn the real world into a hunting ground and transforms local landmarks and businesses into gyms and PokeStops.

Back to business

Businesses are able to download the game for free and if lucky enough, they may be a gym or a PokeStop.

If you are: lucky you! Be prepared for an increase in foot traffic and potential customers. Start thinking creatively and leverage this gift from the Pokémon Gods and create a Pokémon inspired service or product offering, or even consider providing a discount to players.

Luring potential customers with Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go has a purchasable in-game feature called a ‘Lure Module’, which attracts Pokémon to a PokeStop for up to 30 minutes. Use it to your advantage by scheduling your lure in a period of downtime and convert those users into paying customers.

But it’s not just for products.

Airtasker is now offering an Airtasker Pokémon training service: AirTrainer.

For a small fee, they will; battle any Gym of your choice, Check Poké-stops to re-fuel on much needed Pokéballs, potions and berries, tick off the egg timer to hatch your Pokémon and/or hunt down the rarest of Pokémon.

Other entrepreneurial clever cookies are cashing in by offering chauffeur services to help gamers. And a new start-up called Pokewalk is claiming it will soon offer phone-walking services to catch Pokémon too.

While others are turning to drones and even pets to catch ‘em all!

Convinced?

The best action your business can take is to embrace the game and make the Pokémon Go experience a worthwhile one for both you and your potential customers.
